Latin America: Problems of Electronic Journaling

There is immense potential in epublishing; it is a known fact now all over the world.  Yet developing economies still struggle to fully embrace this medium despite its immense potential. Latin America is a typical example; electronic journaling in Latin American countries still lacks methods of quality control and proper electronic archiving.

Access to the internet is growing rapidly; there are now more than 50 million internet users in Latin America and Caribbean. The growing levels of internet penetration and personal computer use means that there is more scope for web-based electronic publishing activities. Along with this, there are initiatives to link libraries to the internet, which would lead to an increased demand for Spanish and Portuguese content. With the spread of internet and the evolution of epublishing, it has become imperative to use the new technology to improve the possibility of providing information in local language.
